Summer Camp FAQs

When is the 2021 summer camp?

Beginner Speech:

  • July 26th - July 29th
  • 4:30 - 6:30 PM
  • Monday - Thursday 

Beginner Debate:

  • August 2nd - August 5th
  • 4:30 - 6:30 PM
  • Monday - Thursday 

Advanced Classes:

  • July 26th - August 5th
  • 4:00 - 6:00 PM
  • Monday - Thursday

Where is the summer camp going to take place?

  • Due to our current circumstances, our summer camp will take place on Zoom! Your child will be added to a Google Classroom after you register, which is where you can obtain Zoom links, Assignments, Slides, and more resources!

What events will be offered?

  • Debate - Public Forum, Parliamentary, and Lincoln Douglas
  • Speech - Interp, Impromptu, and Original Oratory

What should students have during camp?

  • White printer paper, at least 2 different colored pens, and an electronic device (phones are acceptable but laptops are preferred)
  • Optional notebook for note-taking

Who is teaching the camp?

  • Our camp will be led by Speech and Debate Officers. Our instructors have been tournament champions, nationally ranked, have consistently broken into out-rounds at tournaments, and have had success on the a regional, state, and national level in their respective events.

How do I pay for camp?

How much do I have to pay for camp?

  • Beginner Speech: $75
  • Beginner Debate: $75
  • Advanced Class: $225

 What is the difference between the Beginner and Advanced Classes?

  • The Beginner Class will serve to teach the basic, ground floor knowledge of public speaking, as well as speech and debate events. This class will introduce the different events, as well as both speech and debate. It will teach skills that will be applicable to all different types of speech or debate in a 1 week class. The first week of Beginner focuses on Speech, and the second week focuses on Debate.
  • The Advanced Class will be a more focused 2 week program for students who know what type of speech and debate they want to learn. No prior experience is required, although experienced members are welcome. This course strives to fully prepare students for upcoming competitions in all aspects events of Speech and Debate. There will be honed and specific coaching by experienced individuals for each event. 

Do the classes have different levels?

  • We have beginner and advanced levels for all events we are teaching.

I submitted a registration application but haven't received a confirmation.

  • We receive all responses sent on the registration form.
  • We process all applications at the end of each registration period so please wait several days for an acceptance confirmation email.
